Mine for Secrets. Build Your Math Skills.
Minecraft is built from blocks, which makes it one of the most mathematical games around. Every build is area, volume and counting, and every farm is a rate problem.
On GlitchMath, Minecraft players unlock survival strategies, building guides and real commands that Mojang publishes for the game, by first solving 4 math problems set by grade.
Rewards you can unlock

Try a Minecraft math problem
No sign-in needed. Nothing is saved.
Problem 1 of 1 ยท Volume
A storage room is 6 blocks long, 4 wide and 3 tall. How many blocks of air are inside?
Where the math hides in Minecraft
Area and volume
How many blocks fill a 6 x 4 x 3 room? That is the volume of a rectangular prism, a 5th grade standard.
Coordinates
Minecraft's X, Y, Z coordinates are a ready-made coordinate plane for graphing practice.
Scale and ratio
One Nether block equals 8 Overworld blocks, a real ratio players use to travel.
How the math works
- A parent sets the player's grade. Problems come from topics 1-2 grades above it.
- The player picks a Minecraft reward and solves 4 problems. All 4 right unlocks it.
- Any miss shows a step-by-step solution, then the player can retry with 4 fresh problems.
